This video shows how to give a stomach massage.
In this series of videos, massage therapist Athena Jezik demonstrates Swedish Massage Therapy techniques on the entire body including the back, chest, abdomen, face, feet, hands, legs, thighs and neck. Athena focuses on the muscle and tissue connections.
Then moving down into the abdominal area, it’s divided into segments, quadrants. This drains down. This drains up, up and down.
So we start here and open up the nodes along the ribcage, and pull it into the axillary and back up into the original drain point.
We work the abdominal area over the pancreas, spleen, stomach, moving it upward, in that direction.
It’s very important to move the fluid in the proper direction when you’re doing lymphatic work. It’s important to be sensitive as to how full or congested the lymphatic system might be, and apply the pressure as the body needs, or is able to handle. This is the cistern of chyle. It’s a little cistern looking structure that catches a lot of the lymph fluid from the abdominal cavity.
And over the liver the same thing. You work it up and into the axillary. From here you open two of the nodes that are located here, the upward sweep, when you get into the major vessel here and back up into the cistern of chyle, and here.
Then you move the body back and forth, loosening up everything here in the abdomen, making sure the organs are now pliable. They are not sticking together. And then you make a little brush across to continue to feel the elasticity going on, the fluid congestion and any other thing that might be happening through any tightness through the fluid system.
Then we begin to drain the lower quadrant. And the upper. Then the same thing on this side. Drain the lower quadrant down to the inguinal area, and the upper and then draining the cistern of chyle, and then feeling to see if the fluid is flowing in the right direction.
It should be flowing downward, and it is.
This upward…upward…and downward.
And that is the abdomen for lymphatic therapy.
